Sanders to "Change the Nature" of His Campaign After Heart Attack
October 8, 2019Democratic Sen. Bernie Sanders took questions from reporters Tuesday evening about his health and the future of his presidential campaign. Sanders said he plans to change the "nature" of his campaign, which would mean fewer rallies and town meetings.
"I certainly intend to be actively campaigning," Sanders said. "I think we can change the nature of the campaign a bit and make sure I have the strength to do what I have to do."
REPORTER: Do you expect when you do start to travel more that you'll be able to keep up the same type of robust campaign?
SEN. BERNIE SANDERS: I don't know. I think not certainly immediately. Look, we were doing in some cases 5 or 6 meetings a day or 3 or 4 rallies and town meetings and meeting with groups of people. I don't think I'm going to do that. But I certainly intend to be actively campaigning. I think we can change the nature of the campaign a bit and make sure I have the strength to do what I have to do.
REPORTER: What do you mean by change the nature of?
SANDERS: Well, probably not doing 4 rallies a day... probably 2.
