In a tweet on Tuesday, President Donald Trump dropped a truth bomb when he shredded House Democrats, accusing them of withholding the articles of impeachment from the Senate to protect 2020 Democratic candidate Joe Biden.
Immediately after the House voted in favor of impeaching President Trump, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi announced that she would be withholding the impeachment articles from the Senate until she felt that they would hold a "fair" trial.
According to President Trump however, there is a different reason: “The Democrats will do anything to avoid a trial in the Senate in order to protect Sleepy Joe Biden, and expose the millions and millions of dollars that ‘Where’s’ Hunter, & possibly Joe, were paid by companies and countries for doing NOTHING. Joe wants no part of this mess!” he tweeted.
The former Vice President and his son Hunter Biden have been under scrutiny after Hunter Biden's potentially corrupt behavior in Ukraine has been brought to light. The former Vice President's son leveraged his father's position to sit on the board of a Ukrainian gas company where he earned upwards of $80,000 a month. This situation suggests a clear case involving a potential conflict of interest.
The President definitely has a point about the Democrats' motives for withholding the articles of impeachment from the Senate considering Senate Republicans have voiced support for subpoenaing Biden and his son.
During an interview on Sunday with Maria Bartiromo of Fox News, Republican Senator Ted Cruz spoke out about the ongoing impeachment drama surrounding Senate Republicans and House Democrats.
The Texas Senator defended President Trump, saying that he should be allowed to call in any witness including the Biden's, to defend himself from the allegations he is facing.
"If the president wants to call Hunter Biden, if the president wants to call the whistleblower due process mandates that we allow the president to defend himself, to make his case. So I think we should do so," Cruz said.

Former Vice President Joe Biden is clearly feeling the heat considering more and more Senate Republicans like Cruz are calling on him and/or his son Hunter Biden to testify.
While speaking with reporters, Biden stated that he would defy subpoena's from the Senate if he were called to testify.
On Friday, the former Vice President doubled down on his defiant behavior while speaking with the Des Moines Register's editorial board.
“Do you stand by your earlier statements that you wouldn’t comply if you were subpoenaed to testify in an impeachment trial before the Senate,” one board member asked.
“Correct, and the reason I wouldn’t is because it’s all designed to deal with Trump doing what he’s done his whole life, trying to take the focus off him,” Biden stated.
“Doesn’t that position you as if you’re defying a subpoena, putting yourself above the law?” the Register asked.

“Well, look, the grounds for them to call me would be overwhelmingly specious, so I don’t anticipate that happening anyway,” he replied. “But what it would do if I voluntarily just said let me go and make my case. What are you going to cover? You guys are going to cover for three weeks anything that I said. And he’s going to get away. You guys buy into it all the time. Not a joke … Doesn’t mean I shouldn’t testify if you thought I should, but think what it’s about. It’s all about what he does all the time, his entire career. Take the focus off. This guy violated the Constitution. He said it in the driveway of the White House. He acknowledged he asked for help.”
After receiving backlash for his defiant behavior, Biden backtracked on his original comments when he said that he "would obey any subpoena."
“I would obey any subpoena that was sent to me,” Biden said during a campaign event in Iowa.
According to the New York Times, Biden was upset at himself for answering the question in the first place. “This is going to be the news today” he said with regret as he noted how he “shouldn’t even have answered the question.”
“I shouldn’t even have answered the question,” Biden said. “Because in answering the question, now there’s going to be another round. We’re not talking about: What did Trump do?”
