Entrepreneur Andrew Yang and Colorado Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet both announced they will be dropping out of the race.
“While there is great work left to be done, you know I am the math guy, and it is clear tonight from the numbers that we are not going to win this race,” Yang told supporters after the initial results.
Sen. Cory Booker, who dropped out earlier this year, congratulated Yang on his run, saying, “One of my most unexpected pleasures of the 2020 campaign was getting to know you better, [Andrew Yang]. Your campaign made us a better nation. Your vision, ideas and heart elevated us, and your friendship elevates me.”
Bennet promised that despite being out of the race, he will continue to do “absolutely everything” he can to ensure President Donald Trump is not elected again.
Soon after both candidates dropped out, socialist Vermont Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire primary as many had expected, but former South Bend, Indiana, Mayor Pete Buttigieg had a strong second-place finish, and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar came in a surprise third.
The Washington Examiner notes:
Sanders received 26.1% of the vote. Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana, had 24.3%, while Klobuchar had 19.8%.
It was a major improvement for Klobuchar, who placed fifth in last week’s Iowa caucuses with 12.3% of state delegate equivalents, the traditional measure for winning that contest.
Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren was in fourth place with 9.4%, and former Vice President Joe Biden was in fifth place with 8.4%.
Biden and Warren both failed to meet the 15% threshold for earning nominating delegates to the Democratic National Convention, which some analysts called “embarrassing.”
Bernie got the most votes in the first two primary states, which also included Iowa.

Sanders -- a self-avowed socialist aiming to make America resemble Venezuela -- is now the Democratic frontrunner. And the establishment is freaking out over this.
