WaPo Refers To Murdered ISIS Leader As 'Religious Scholar'
October 27, 2019On Sunday, the Washington Post wrote an obituary for the ISIS leader that Trump killed yesterday, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. And instead of calling him by his rightful name - a brutal ISIS terrorist who murdered thousands of innocent people - they called him an 'austere religious scholar'.
“Austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State dies at 48,” the full headline read.
The bizarre part of this story is that the Post actually had written a different headline initially, but then changed it to the more glowing version.
As the Washington Examiner points out, "the Washington Post apparently changed the headline of their obituary of ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi from 'terrorist-in-chief' to describe him as an 'austere religious scholar.'"
UPDATE: The WaPo has now changed the headline BACK after backlash!
As expected, Twitter did NOT let him off the hook:
He was a serial rapist and murderer pic.twitter.com/8U9bX37vht

The Washington Post changed the headline on its Al-Baghdadi obituary from “Islamic State’s terrorist-in-Chief” to “austere religious scholar at helm of Islamic State.” pic.twitter.com/cs243EVz7W
The Washington Post is framing the obituary of ISIS terrorist group leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi as the death of an "austere religious scholar" on their homepage.

Give me a break.
Call him a murderous terrorist because that is what he is.
It's not that difficult. pic.twitter.com/IdWqqOq1G9
